We are excited to have The Wacky Windmill and owner Kimberley Ward join us from Alberta this year. The Wacky Windmill sells a colourful assortment of hand-dyed yarn, fibre, spinning batts and project bags. Kimberley has been an avid crocheter for over 20 years and has been a crafter for as long as she can remember. In the past 10 years she has gotten more involved in knitting, spinning and hand dyeing yarn and fibre. She loves creating handmade items and enjoys producing products that others can use to fuel their individual creative process.
The Wacky Windmill takes its inspiration from the world around us, colours in nature, decor palettes, photos, paintings, and the creative works of others. “Colour surrounds us and there are so many different areas to draw upon to get those creative juices flowing!”
When asked what her favourite piece is, Kimberley said,
“My favourite piece I ever created was a wingspan shawl that I specifically dyed and spun the fibre for. It was my first time ever doing this and I was so proud of the completed object that I entered it in a juried show. The shawl won first place for a beginner dyer and motivated me to continue playing with colour and creating fun fibres for others to work with.”
