Basketry & Brioche: Classes at the Norwood Knitters “Frolic with Fibre” Sunday January 15, 2017

Every January the Norwood Naughty Knitters host a fun afternoon of shared crafting in the lovely sunny venue of the Norwood Community Centre in Norwood Flats, with vendors and craft circles throughout the afternoon.

As part of our ongoing skills sharing program, the Manitoba Fibre Festival is pleased to offer two classes at this event. Please email to register.

Learn about this other local fibre source, the dogwood shrub: how to recognize, harvest, prepare and work with this versatile basketry material. Participants will use basic weaving techniques to make a melon shaped basket during this class.

KNITTERS: INTRODUCTION TO BRIOCHE

with Mandy Furney

Do you love texture? Flowing lines? Stripes? Colourwork without floats? Have you dared to try brioche knitting? If you know your knitting basics, you can knit this. It may even be your new favourite. I have noted a recent proliferation of brioche designs. I can help you get started or develop past the straight ribbing.

Supplies needed – any two similar yarns you want to play with, in two colours, and appropriate circular or double-pointed needles as recommended for your yarn.
