Sponsored and Juried by the Textile and Fibre Artists of Manitoba
‘Tones and hues of sepia, times gone by, familiarity, stillness. Shades of ancient memories. Complemented by a clean and pristine renewal. Enhanced by the fresh and pure promise of rebirth.’
These words and images are what come to mind when viewing the 2018 Manitoba Fibre Festival’s new and exciting idea to inspire participating fibre artists – a mood board! Providing the palette for the Festival’s 2018 Maker Challenge, the mood board will also be used as colour inspiration for the 2018 Fibre Art Show. The designs of the artwork can however be completely unique and original.
The Fibre Art Show goes one step further and includes a theme:
‘What’s Old is New Again’
This exhibit is a juried show and adherence to the theme and palette are the focus of the juried selection. Inclusion and blending of fibre-based art and mediums including found or unusual objects is acceptable and encouraged. Collaboration amongst different types of fibre artists is applauded.
Wall art, free standing and 3D are all welcome. Open to all Manitoba fibre artists and Manitoba Fibre Festival vendors. Check out the Mood Board and get inspired to create your own Old/New design!
Size – No size restriction for free standing art, but must be self supporting.
Wall art, up to 40 inches height and width, must have a hanging sleeve and a rod.
