Demonstrations and Special Displays Coordinator

Timeframe: April to September

Preparation:

  • Communicate with demonstration and education display organizers as well as organizers of art shows and special displays

  • Collate display and set up requirements; provide to site coordinator

At the Festival:

  • Be onsite for set-up

  • Work with volunteer team to ensure that demonstrators’ needs are met throughout the Festival

After the Festival:

  • Follow up with demo and display participants (thanks, feedback)

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills

Merchandise Coordinator

Timeframe: April to September

Preparation::

  • Research merchandising ideas suggested by the planning team

  • Determine pricing of merchandise

  • Design displays for merchandise

  • Provide photos and descriptions for website and media posts

At the Festival:

- Work with volunteers to set up and run the merchandise table

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Experience with Square point of sale system

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and logistical skills

Photographers

We are looking for several volunteer photographers working various shifts to document the event. 

Timeframe: One meeting prior to Festival, plus covering the event September 6 & 7, 2024

Tasks at the Festival: 

  • Capture memorable and(or) assigned moments and events to be used for promotional use and archival purposes.

  • Agree that both Photographer and Manitoba Fibre Festival are full owners of media shot while on site.

  • Keep an organized shot list describing images shot

  • Sign photo release for images of individuals (MBFF will provide)

  • Download drop media prior to end of shift on portable Manitoba Fibre Fest drive

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Volunteer photographers must be at least 18 years of age

  • Professional or current student Photography skill

  • Own and be responsible for their own Photography gear

  • Able to shoot in low light, challenging lighting situations

  • Be able to manage and edit numerous digital files and remit to the MBFF within 2 weeks of the Festival

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, when connecting with Festival patrons

  • Understand that the volunteer position may involve multiple hours of walking and standing on concrete floor and may be physically demanding.

  • Good general knowledge of the Festival is an asset (not required)
