Volunteers

The Manitoba Fibre Festival is entirely volunteer run! We could not host our wonderful gathering without the enthusiastic team of volunteers who contribute their time each year.

We invite you to join us as a new or returning volunteer by filling in this quick form so that we can best match you with your interests and availability.

FAQs

  • No. We want to make sure you have time to enjoy the Festival too. Want to attend a workshop? We’ll schedule around that.

  • Volunteer opportunities begin a couple days before the market opens as we set up and prepare. This may be Wednesday and/or Thursday. The majority of our volunteers are active during the Festival Friday and Saturday. We also ask for some helping hands after the Market closes Saturday to help with packing it all up.

  • We will send out job descriptions for volunteers, but here’s a quick summary.

Welcome Desk folks greet everyone upon entry, accept entrance payments, provide wrist bands, and help with answering questions.

Workshop Support sits across from the Welcome Desk. They accept new workshop registrations and payments, answer questions, prepare the workshop spaces between events, and may also assist with Merchandise Sales next to them.

Vendor Support folks attend to our vendors, who are often singular folks in a booth. You will regularly check in on our vendors to see if they need anything. One important role is to take and deliver canteen orders. Vendor Support is also kept busy before the market opens by directing vendors to their booths upon arrival to set up.

Merchandise volunteers help to sell our Manitoba Fibre Festival merch. They also assist guests with questions - or direct them to the correct person.

Wool Show volunteers supervise the fleeces on display, answer questions or direct folks to where they can more information, and keep guests from joyfully unpacking all the fleeces and rolling in them (which we don’t recommend as these are unwashed fleeces).

Animal Support volunteers help by keeping an eye on our four-legged friends. You get to hang out at the far end and help guests with questions as well as support the Wool Show as needed.

Set-up and Take-Down folks help us prepare the Festival before it opens and pack up after. We need some folks capable of lifting folding tables, moving chairs, and helping vendors when they arrive and depart.

  • Complete our volunteer form and we will be in contact by email. Schedules are sent out a few weeks before the event.
